I recently assumed the role of our DOORS administrator (which was quite the shock when it happened). I then had to figure out how to migrate from a DOORS 9.2 server on a Windows 2003 Server to a DOORS 9.6 server on a Windows 2012 R2 server. Eventually after fumbling around the in dark the migration happened. One of the things I'm trying to clean up is we had a custom menu for a number of DXL functions available to users in the 9.2 clients (thick clients). After the move, I have access to that menu and it's functionality, but all others do not. I'm struggling to figure out what needs to be done to allow others access to the custom menu. I know it is something on my machine I need to share with others (because my login to the client install on the server does not have the menu, only when I log in locally to my machine, with any user login). I found and article point to the user folder (DOORS\9.6\lib\dxl\addins\user) but copying the contents directly doesn't seem to make any difference. I think everything is in the "right" spot because it still works on my machine (and I know I'm only pointing to our new server, I've checked and re-checked the registry values). And I moved the addins folder to the same location on the new server. I'm just stuck trying to find what builds the custom menu on my machine. Any help? Re: Custom Menu Option You are not providing enough info to make a good guess but here is a guess: Your formal.dxl has been modified. If that isn't the case there are other dxl scripts on your pc that have been modified. You will have to do research to find out which. Or you could have a doors shortcut that adds pulldown menus. also check baseWindowMenu.inc; and files in doorshome /lib/dxl/config Or perhaps someone can offer a list of other dxls that provide menu changes. |
Re: Custom Menu Option *sigh* Nothing more than an ID10T User Error... And I am that user. My lack of networking experience showing through. I had shared the drive but not gone through additional step of giving users permission to read from the shared folders. Once I provided appropriate user access rights to the shared folders then people were able to use the custom menu. Thanks for the response! |
